Sometimes, watching and processing knew information, allows room for growth and change. This workshop, we offer a 10 minute short film screening of Know To Run: Yatika followed by a 45 min presentation and discussion of how to go beyond a land acknowledgement, what it is, how transformative it can be and how it can benefit the heart work we do and our connections with the lands and with community. Hosted by Rising Hearts, and discussion led by Jordan Whetstone of RH.
Run of Show:
+ Know To Run: Yatika film screening (10 minutes)
+ Beyond a Land Acknowledgement (45 minutes)
+ Q & A
Additional Add On’s or replace Presentation with Panel:
+ Panel style: with Yatika Starr Fields and GU Energy Labs Rep (focus of conversation will be on kinship, multi-community participation, access to the outdoors, land acknowledgements and community building, and including art through movement (Extra $250 donation - towards speaker fee)
NOTE: We also love hosting these conversations, and are always willing to discuss sliding scale donations as well!
Join us for an insightful discussion and workshop from organizational and athlete perspectives on what it takes to go beyond a one time opportunity, creating meaningful relationships rooted in reciprocity and spaces where we see ourselves. We will share how to engage with brands and companies to create safe, inclusive, diverse spaces, where athletes feel protected in who they are, and for the communities and causes they represent and support. We will brainstorm what works and what doesn’t work when it comes to branding/visibility and impact campaigns – giving back to community beyond a donation, storytelling/branded campaign opportunities in how to tell a meaningful and supportive story, run group culture, DEI commitments, product development and innovation for all bodies, elite athlete sponsorship vs. changemaker/athlete advocate sponsorship. Knowing the difference and having the infrastructure created to support that athlete and their communities they are representing will be explored, too.
Minimum 2 speakers that will be hired and included from the Rising Hearts community to visit your community and help with this discussion along with local community voices that want to be part of this!
Session Learning Objectives:
1.) Define what Kinship is.
2.) Define what Kinship building is.
3.) Explore how to create inclusive and supporting spaces between community and brands and what community led engagement opportunities with brands and companies can look like – meaningfully and sustainably.
Additional Add On’s or replace Presentation with Panel:
+ Panelists - we love uplifting our Running With Purpose Athlete Advocates and community partners on this panel, so donation may vary if you’d like 3-6 panelists part of this and traveling. Travel Stipends must be included for other panelists.
