Partnerships with Rising Hearts

Hello community!

We are all about cultivating community, build meaningful and purposeful partnerships and to create pathways moving forward that we can do together. We are an organization that cares about fostering and braiding intersectionality within our heart work.

If you’re interested in partnering with Rising Hearts to support any of our initiatives or programs and help Rising Hearts grow where we can hire amazing people, grow our platform and raise funds to make this work sustainable, please reach out!

RIGHT TO RUN X ON
On Global Running Day, June 1st 2022, we are excited to be a Right to Run partner with On.

Right to Run is On’s Social Impact Partnerships Program empowering communities to protect and preserve all runners’ fundamental right to run.

We look forward to working, collaborating and learning from the other partners as we all are putting in the heart work to make running more accessible, safe, diverse, supportive, inclusive and more for all of us!

GU ENERGY
We are excited for this partnership and collaboration as a GU Gives Back Recipient!

We are committed to making the running community a safer, more supportive and inclusive space and place. GU reached out to collaborate with us for our Running on Native Lands Initiative, to help get land acknowledgements done at the races they are organizing/partnering in across Native lands, to donate comped entries to our athlete advocates and community, and much more!

Yatika Starr Fields was the first Indigenous runner and artist we were able to send to the 2022 Western States 100 Miler! Since then, we have supported and co-sponsored Callie Vinson in the 2023 WS100 and Alex Staten in the 2024 WS100. With local involvement with Wasiw Nisenan voices guiding this kinship, we’ve learned a lot, multiple films to document not only this partnership but inspiring voices, other visibility opportunities for our runners and collective impact we are making, little by little so that we all can see ourselves in these spaces, spaces we want to be part of, to feel seen and to feel safe.

Our official partnership ends Dec. 2024, but this opportunity has led to many other partnerships to support the heart work we do and looking forward to our paths crossing!

THE WANDER PROJECT
Turn your passion into purpose and help support our efforts to raise money for Rising Hearts!

Raising money for a cause has never been easier! This year, we’re partnering with Wander Project to give you a fun way to support our heart work. Run, walk or jog in the 2024 EVENT as a charity bib athlete, and a percentage of the funds you raise will come back to us. Wander Project’s goal is to help you inspire and engage your community by providing support and resources along your fundraising journey.

A charity bib is a free entry into one of the events listed above in exchange for helping raise awareness and funds for our organization.

Once you register for a charity bib, you will be automatically prompted to set up a fundraising page through Wander Project’s peer-to-peer fundraising platform. From here, Wander Project will give you the tools and resources needed to engage your friends and family in your fundraising efforts to support Rising Hearts. This means you’ll have support from Wander Project every step of your fundraising process!

Fundraising commitments range from $1,000-$5,000 depending on the event. Please understand that by signing up for a charity bib, you are making a serious commitment to raise the amount you agreed to. If you are not able to meet the minimum fundraising amount by the week of the race, you will be required to pay the difference. All donations are final.

Once you raise your minimum commitment, you will get a code to register for the event of your choice. For some events, you may be automatically registered. We look forward to seeing you at an event. Let’s turn our passions into purpose and make a difference in the world! Rising Hearts had runners for 2023, and 11 for 2024. There are still more races you can select for 2024 and 2025 to be part of this. If you have any more questions, reach out to zander@wanderproject.org and Rising Hearts at info@rising-hearts.org.

CHECK OUT OUR CHARITY BIB RUNNERS! We have several that are still fundraising to meet their goal requirement to enter the race!

TRAIL RUNNER
Since the article published last summer in 2021 by TR about America’s first trail runner, the Native community amplified how inaccurate this was written and how the article perpetuated the erasure of Native peoples on the trails and these lands. So, Rising Hearts reached out and began conversations with TR and now, over a year later, we are collaboratively working together to amplify, uplift, and lead by example of how we can create spaces whether virtual, in person or written, to be inclusive, accessible, safe and much more.

Now, we have hosted 3 virtual panels uplifting Indigenous voices on the lack of visibility of Indigenous peoples in the running community, running for justice and awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives and a Safety Planning panel and training for the public. We have also amplified our very own voices from our Running with Purpose - Athlete Advocates program, Running on Native Lands Initiative partners and. runners, and more. And upcoming articles about Lhakpa Sherpa, who just broke her own world record on Mt. Everest!

This is our collaborative commitment to uplift not just Indigenous voices, but all voices within the running and outdoor communities so that we all can see ourselves represented and have our voices heard.

UTAH K’E PROJECT - BRINGING THE REZ TO THE CITY
This summer @shpoon_mp and @navajostrong are teaming up to bring unity, kinship, and intertribal relationship to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. Together, the Utah K’é project will create a safe space where community members can embrace their cultural identities and build lifelong friendships by “Bringing the Rez to the City.”

This is a 12-week program that will take place every Monday from 7-9pm, starting June 6th, 2022 for cultural workshops and physical fitness.

To stay up to date on this project and its upcoming events, please be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram @utahkeproject .

So they may continue to serve the Indigenous community, please consider getting involved and donating to their cause at https://www.navajostrong.org

ELITEFEATS
We are excited to continue our partnership with Elitefeats for a 3rd year. Long time friends, reached out to Rising Hearts to help support us initially in our fundraising efforts to purchase PPE and supplies for our communities just as the pandemic was beginning. So, in June 2020, we organized the Running for the Health of All Nations with our partner, Seeding Sovereignty at the time, to host a virtual run and raise funds to support our COVID relief efforts.

Now, 2 years later, going into year 3, and 16 virtual runs, over $265k raised, we are still hosting virtual runs to make running more accessible, meaningful, bring community together in person and virtually, and donate back into community and support their heart work. And we have 4 more to come for 2022!

Wopila tanka, Elitefeats, many thanks! We are forever grateful for your kinship and support.
