The You Are Loved Community Grant program was created to help provide the financial resources to the families and communities within the MMIR space that need support in fighting for justice, accountability, healing, and a safer future. Rising Hearts is collaborating with our sister organization, Urban Indigenous Collective to help distribute the funds for those needing the support. The purpose of this grant is to help alleviate all or even a small piece, of the financial burden that is left with the families and communities when a loved one goes missing or has been taken. Visit You Are Loved to learn more about how these funds can support those needs and the purpose behind the program.
The Prayer Runners: Jordan Whetstone and Kali Reis, are both running the NYC Marathon on November 3, 2024, and will be running for justice and running with purpose to continue shining a light on the missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Peoples advocacy, the families, the advocates and the movement to bring change for a safer future for all Indigenous Peoples.

WHAT IS MMIP?
Watch to learn more.
The epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, has long since existed for generations, since 1492. However, only in the last few decades, has this violence against Indigenous women and Peoples received some visibility. It's not enough. The awareness and advocacy, the movement, began with First Nations families and communities, bringing attention to this issue, to the Highway of Tears and sharing their own stories. It wasn't until more recently, that Canada, has called this epidemic a genocide. The US has followed in the paths of advocates and families to push for more awareness, for justice, for healing, for accountability, and for action. More needs to be done. There are plenty of reasons to explain why this is an epidemic, we share a bit through this video but please follow us on Instagram (rising_hearts), follow those we amplify, and follow / learn more from:

MEET THE ARTIST
BEHIND THE LOGO
Meet the Artist behind the You Are Loved Logo!
Nicol Hodges is a versatile multimedia artist passionate about hand drawing, acrylic painting, and graphic design. Creativity has been a part of her life since childhood, inspired by her father’s love for art and photography and her mother’s exceptional sewing talent. Nicol’s art is deeply personal, often reflecting her life experiences and her passion for her community.
When invited to contribute to the "You Are Loved" campaign, Nicol thought about the powerful love she feels for her daughters. Her artwork for the project symbolizes this bond: a heart representing love, hands symbolizing a mother’s nurturing support, and intricate braids inspired by both her own and collaborator Jordan Daniels’ shared cultural appreciation for braiding.
Nicol’s talents are in high demand—she’s currently working as the illustrator for an upcoming book, Runners with a Purpose, which celebrates runners who make a positive impact in their communities. She’s also the founder of The Risers Hub, a health and wellness platform where she helps others achieve their wellness goals and live authentically through healthy habits. Through coaching, accountability, and her podcast, Nicol is dedicated to inspiring others to rise to their fullest potential.
